Judge Kamanga recuses from Mutharika’s treason case

Judge Ivy Kamanga of High Court Lilongwe registry says she did not want to hear the treason case involving the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) president Peter Mutharika and 10 others and directed the matter be placed before another Judge for further hearing.

The defence team accepted that Judge Kamanga be recused from the case.

Lawyer of the defence team Kalekeni Kaphale, talking to reporters outside the court after the hearing, which was held in closed doors, disclosed the case is now under Judge Esme Chombo.

“The court has directed that Judge Chombo should summon both parties within 14 days to map the way forward,” he said
